Property Description
If you are looking for a conventional house, this is not for you. This beautiful house has been built with prefab panels known as structural concrete insulated panels (SCIP), which is a system comprise of foam panels sandwiched between wire mesh at each side, connected by metal space frame, and sprayed with a concrete layer. This building system is energy efficient, with carbon neutral architecture, and a continuous insulation with monolithic construction. A sustainable option to climate change, because it has historically survived a variety of natural disasters including, wildfires, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis and earthquakes. This non-conventional method of construction is for comfort, durability and mostly carefree maintenance. The walls: The roughly 13†walls are an uninterrupted shell from the basement to the top floor, giving the walls an R factor superior to the conventional 2x6 walls; this also means that you will never have to re-side your house, ever! On the inside, the cement walls work as an either heat sink in the winter and a cool sink on the summer, keeping the house up to 12 degrees cooler without the need of air conditioning. These walls are not afraid of tornadoes! Pests like mice & termites will never be a problem. Inside, the gorgeous post and beam frame were built from 100-year-old red pine from the Torch Lake area by master log home builders. The floors are hardwood: black locust, cherry, red oak, white oak, and black walnut. Every room has built in dovetail cabinet drawers matching the custom floors. The house has radiant heat in the floors; to prevent allergies, to radiate a more even heat, and to make these floors a pleasure to walk in the winter even without socks on. The deck was built with recycled materials; it never has slivers and will never need to be repainted or replaced due to rotting planks. The base of the deck is made from huge black locust beams; of one of the most rot resistant woods in the world.
